About Us

The Urban Edge Farm is a 34-acre, family-owned organic farm located about 50 miles east of San Francisco, in the heart of the Sacramento–San Joaquin Delta, one of the most productive agricultural regions in the world. Owned and operated by Bob and Barbara Cecchini and their family, the farm represents generations of farming knowledge rooted in California agriculture.

Our land includes 4 acres of certified organic vegetables, 3 acres of wine grapes, and 24 acres of orchards, most of which are dedicated to our beloved U-Pick experience. The Urban Edge Farm has been fully certified organic since the summer of 2021.

The Urban Edge Farm is operated under Cecchini & Cecchini, Inc., a family business that has continuously farmed in California since the 1930s. Bob and Barbara have worked side by side for more than forty years, and The Urban Edge Farm is their newest enterprise—combining hands-on farming with agritourism and a year-round farm store.

We grow and market more than 50 varieties of specialty organic fruits, vegetables, and herbs, providing year-round employment and supporting a thriving local food system. Our farming practices are rooted in regenerative agriculture, including cover cropping, composting, and creating habitat for beneficial insects and wildlife—methods that protect soil health and keep our land productive for generations to come.

Historically, the San Francisco Bay Area has relied on surrounding agricultural regions for fresh, diverse food thanks to mild weather and rich, alluvial soils. Despite decades of urban growth, Brentwood remains the largest agricultural region in the East Bay, with more than 12,000 acres of contiguous farmland producing exceptional fruits, berries, vegetables, nuts, and wine grapes. Brentwood is also legendary for its U-Pick orchards, farm stands, and growing agritourism scene.

You’ll find The Urban Edge Farm on Walnut Boulevard between Payne and Concord Avenues, in the heart of Brentwood’s farm stand row. Our farm store is the only one in the area open year-round, offering all-organic fruits and vegetables alongside locally made jams, jellies, pickles, fresh bread, eggs, honey, oils, vinegars, handmade soaps, cookies, and more.

From May through October, our U-Pick orchards are bursting with flavor—featuring apricots, peaches, nectarines, pluots, figs, pomegranates, and persimmons. We also offer U-Pick flowers and cherry tomatoes, a children’s playground, and shaded picnic areas, making the farm a destination for all ages.
